Do nail extensions ruin
my own nails?
If they are put on and taken off correctly, they will not
ruin your own nails. We also recommend you purchase a cuticle oil
to help nourish the nail to extend the life of the extensions.
How long can you keep nail
extensions on for?
You can keep extensions on indefinitely, provided you have them maintained
on a regular basis.
What extensions should
I have, Gel, Acrylic or fibreglass?
Your nail technician will advise you on which system she thinks will
best suit you and your nails.
My nails are reasonably
strong, but are never all the same length at the same time
Then why not try having them "Wrapped". This means having
your own nails covered with a product which will keep them strong.
The nail technician will advise you on this and you will continue
the care with regular maintenance's.
I want my nails to look
good but I can't have them too long
You can have the nail extensions any length and shape you like, in
fact, if you haven't had them before, we would suggest that you have
them on the shorter side as it's easier to get used to them like that.
Do I have to use a special
nail polish and does it chip off?
You can use any nail polish, but ensure you use NON ACETONE remover,
which is available at the shop. The polish doesn't chip off nail extensions,
in fact most clients return for their maintenance and still have the
same polish that was put on 3 weeks earlier!
What is "Maintenance"
and how often do I need it?
Maintenance is carried out approximately every three weeks. It involves
reshaping and re-strengthening the nail, and replacing any nails you
may have broken. The technique depends on which overlay you had initially.
ie Gel, fibreglass, Acrylic, etc. Without maintenance the nail becomes
unbalanced and break.
I bite my nails! Can I
have nail extensions?
Yes. A great deal of our client were once nail biters. If your cuticles
have grown down onto your nail bed then it is advisable to have a
manicure first or push your cuticles down every time you get in the
bath. This will enable us to get a better nail shape and finish for
you. We also suggest you have maintenance's every one to two weeks
to begin with. After your nails have grown a little and your nail
beds have recovered, your maintenance's will be every three weeks.
Do you use electric drills?
No. We feel that there is far too much damage being done
by using drills. We do all our filing by hand, ensuring no damage
is done to the natural nail plate.
Do you use MMA products?
There has been a lot of media attention recently regarding
nail salons using MMA products. Briefly MMA is the liquid used in
acrylic nail applications. It has been banned from being used in the
States, due to health concerns, but is still available in this country.
We do not use MMA. We use OPI and EZ Flow, who are
highly reputable suppliers of top quality products and whose training
is second to none.
What do I do if I have
had nail extensions and now want them off?
Never prize or pull the nail extensions off as this will damage the
natural nail plate. We offer a soak off and treatment manicure service,
regardless of where you had your nails done.

How
frequently and in what time intervals must treatments be provided?
Optimally, every 10-14 days to allow skin to heal. Treatments should
be provided with realistic outcome in mind. Because it is a cumulative
treatment, normally a package of 5 or more is suggested for retainable,
tangible results.
Can this system
be used with other skin care treatments?
Yes, as long as the prescribed waiting times are observed.
How many passes
are recommended for the face?
Normally two, not in the same direction but in a direction that respects
lymphatic drainage.
What is the average
treatment time for the face?
Equipment run time is approximately 10-15 minutes. You can reach 30
minutes with a full procedure, including pretreatments protocols.
